Field Day

Just a reminder that our very fun Field Day is this Friday, May 20! Please check the weather and dress your child appropriately to be outside for most of the day. Please have your child wear tennis shoes (no flip flops) and lather them up in some sunscreen that morning. Also, we will be having McDonald's for lunch. Home Visits/Conferences

I am still scheduling home visits for those students that I have not met with. If you have not returned the home visit slip (sent home before spring break) I will be contacting you this week to schedule that visit. If you have had a home visit but would like to meet again before the end of the school year, please contact me to schedule a conference at school. We do not have a specific day or time set aside for conferences, but I am at school every day after school for a couple of hours and would be happy to set up a time to meet.

Easter Celebration

We will have a classroom Easter celebration immediately following our Snacks and Stories on Friday, April 22. We will start probably at 11:30 and go until a few minutes after 12:00 before lunch starting at 12:10. We would love for our families to join our celebration!
·     We would like to have an Easter egg hunt either outside or in our classroom (weather permitting) during this time. We are asking each child to bring 12 plastic Easter eggs with a piece of candy inside. Please have the eggs sent in by Thursday, April 21. If you are able to send more than 12, that would be helpful. Please fill the eggs with the candy before sending them in.
·     If you would like to bring a snack for our celebration, please let me know. If you do not let me know that you are bringing something, PLEASE do NOT send anything for the party. We had 3 extra sets of cupcakes and 4 extra cookies at our Valentine party. I will return a note by Thursday with what we would like you to bring specifically.
·     Also, we will be coloring Easter eggs in our classroom Thursday afternoon. If you would like to donate 1 dozen BOILED eggs for coloring, please check and return the bottom. The eggs need to be at school by Thursday morning.

Snacks and Stories

We will have a special time for our classroom on Friday, April 22 at 10:30. We invite our families to attend Snacks and Stories at our school where we will hear a story and enjoy a snack together. The students have made cupcakes in our cooking room to share with their families. We hope everyone can come and enjoy this special time together.

Spring Pictures

The group classroom pictures that were pre-ordered have not arrived yet, but they should be here next week. On Tuesday we sent home a picture packet of individual pictures. You have several options with the picture packet.

1. If you DO NOT want any of the pictures, please return the ENTIRE packet as soon as possible.
2. You may purchase the entire picture packet for $55.00. Please use the small envelope enclosed in the packet to send in your payment.
3. You may purchase some of the picture sheets and not all. There is a chart in the picture packet with prices listed. You may keep the ones that you pay for, but return all the rest.

Please remember, the pictures are not free. If you do not purchase the pictures, please return the entire packet quickly. We would like them all in by spring break (next Friday, April 1).

St. Patrick's Day - Green Food Celebration!

St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday, March 17. To celebrate the holiday we ask everyone to wear something green. We will also be having a “green food celebration.” If you would like to send anything in for the students to eat that is green, we would greatly appreciate it! This could be food that is normally green (cucumbers, celery, grapes) or something made green that is usually not green (cookies, pudding, etc). Please send the green food to school in the morning. Thanks!

Extra 30 Minutes

The 30 extra minutes added to our school day to make up for snow days begins TODAY, March 16. This will continue every day until Friday, April 1. Students will be dismissed at 3:00 instead of 2:30.

What will we be doing during this extra time in our classroom? We will have enough time for writing! Our writing time is usually cut short, not allowing students time to really be creative and add details in their writing. We also only have enough time for 2 tables to have their writing checked each day. During our normal writing time we will have a mini-lesson and then do our own writing in journals in the extra 30 minutes at the end of the day. This will give us more time to devote to more students and do more "adult writing" for them. They will also be able to share their work with their friends. We look forward to this extra time together! :)

Costume Day!

Our class has earned 10 more compliments! As their reward, they voted to have a costume day. We will have costume day on Friday, February 18. Your child may come to school in a costume and wear it the whole day. Scary and violent costumes are not allowable. Please have your child wear weather appropriate shoes/coats as we will be going outside for recess. Be sure to praise your child for doing such an awesome job to earn our compliments!

100th Day of School

Our 100th Day of School will be on Tuesday, February 8. We have asked that each student create a 100th Day display for the hallway. Their display should be something to hang on the wall that has 100 things on it. You could use cereal, noodles, stickers, craft items, buttons, etc. Be creative and have fun!

Scholastic Book Order

The February Scholastic book order was sent home Monday. Orders are due by tomorrow, Friday, February 4. If you would like to place an order online, click on the Scholastic Book Clubs link to the right. Our classroom pass code is: GPTZW You can also order by returning the paper order form and pay with a check written to Scholastic Book Clubs. This is a great way to increase your child's reading library at home and help our classroom earn free books!

Box Tops

We are going to have a school-wide Box Top challenge for the month of February. The kindergarten classroom that collects the most Box Tops will win a popcorn party or cookie party. The money collected will go towards the purchasing of equipment for our school. Please collect and send in Box Tops to help our class and school. You can fill the sheet that was sent home (with 10 Box Tops) or just send in all that you have. I keep mine in a bag on my refrigerator as a reminder to save them. Thanks so much for all of your support! Maybe we can be the winning class!
